Brandon Sampair is the current captain of the St. Cloud Huskies hockey team. Along with being an outstanding player, he has been a participant in five Minnesota Selects Festivals and was a member of the All Academic team. Brandon played youth hockey for Mahtomedi and after a successful youth career, played for the Mahtomedi High School as a freshman. There he helped the team to a Class A State Tournament finishing in third place. He spent the his last there years of high school playing for Hill Murray where he helped guide them to two Class AA State Tournaments. he scored 100 goals and 128 assists in his high school career, including sixty eight points in his freshman and senior seasons. He was selected for All State, All Conference, and All Metro as well as being names to the state All tournament team for there years, team MCP and was a Mr. Hockey finalist in 1997. He was an honor student and was in the top twenty five of his senior class graduating in 1997. Brandon joined the Juskies in 1997/98. He played in twenty seven games that year. He is the only Husky ranked among the WCHA scoring leaders with twelve goals and eleven assists. in 1998/1999 he was the William Radovich Award recipient for the most improved player. he led the team with fifteen goals and sixteen assists. He was the Assistant captain in 1999/2000, the same year he tied for the third on the team in scoring with forty-two points (18 goals and 24 assists). He earned the Academic All WCHA and was also named for the WCHA Final Five All Tourney selection. This last season brought Captain Brandon Sampair and the Huskies searching for a WCHA championship. St. Cloud finished second place behind North Dakota on to beat North Dakota n the WCHA Final Five Tournament championship game. Brandon was born October 22, 1978, and will graduate from St. Cloud with a major in Marketing. (2001)
